TITAN COMICS SUMMON A NEW OCCULT NOIR THRILLER IN MINKY WOODCOCK: THE GIRL CALLED CTHULHU
TRUE ESPIONAGE, A STOLEN CORPSE, AND PULP FICTION HEROES: CYNTHIA VON BUHLER’S NEW GRAPHIC NOVEL UNCOVERS HOW AUTHORS HELPED DEFEAT HITLER AND WIN WWII
New York, NY — June 6, 2025 —Mysterious deaths. Occult conspiracies. Lovecraftian horrors. The third volume in Cynthia von Buhler’s thrilling detective series, Minky Woodcock: The Girl Called Cthulhu, hits shelves July 8, 2025 – from Titan Comics’ Hard Case Crime imprint.
Set against the shadowy backdrop of WWII-era occultism, the story follows private investigator Minky Woodcock as she navigates a labyrinth of satanic cults, wartime cover-ups, and supernatural terror.
Following the enigmatic death of Harry Houdini, Minky is approached by none other than Aleister Crowley, who is desperate to clear his name in a murder case. Her investigation spirals into a much deeper conspiracy involving a missing British agent, classified wartime operations, and surreal dream-visions haunted by Lovecraftian horrors.
But this time, it’s personal. Minky is hired by the sister of Glyndwr Michael — the real-life homeless man whose corpse was used in the top-secret British deception known as Operation Mincemeat. As she investigates his disappearance, Minky uncovers a shocking web of occult forces, military secrets, and bizarre truths that were long buried by history.
Drawing from never-before-researched facts, The Girl Called Cthulhu reveals the astonishing role that mystery and thriller writers — including Ian Fleming — played in helping end WWII. With fiction weaponized for espionage, Minky must navigate a war where stories are deadly, and lies can win battles.
Fans of noir, history, and horror will find themselves entranced by von Buhler’s intricately rendered art and atmospheric storytelling. Previous volumes in the series have been praised for their bold style and fearless heroine – Minky Woodcock stands out as a modern pulp icon, now facing her strangest case yet.
Cynthia von Buhler brings a singular vision to the page, combining real-life history, occult intrigue, and gorgeously surreal visuals. From secret societies to deep-sea monstrosities, The Girl Called Cthulhu pushes the Minky Woodcock saga into thrilling new territory — all rooted in the unbelievable but true story of how fiction, deception, and the dead helped defeat the Nazis.
MINKY WOODCOCK: THE GIRL CALLED CTHULHU is on sale July 8, 2025! Pre-order now from Amazon,Barnes & Noble, Books A Million, and Forbidden Planet for the UK.
